SMTP stopped working again

Thank you for all your help Joe. I’ll look into it.

O.K. usr/sbin/postconf, I can’t edit and master.cf has these parameters:

# -o syslog_name=postfix/submission
# -o smtpd_tls_security_level=encrypt
# -o smtpd_sasl_auth_enable=yes
# -o smtpd_reject_unlisted_recipient=no
# -o smtpd_client_restrictions=$mua_client_restrictions
# -o smtpd_helo_restrictions=$mua_helo_restrictions
# -o smtpd_sender_restrictions=$mua_sender_restrictions
# -o smtpd_recipient_restrictions=permit_sasl_authenticated,reject
# -o milter_macro_daemon_name=ORIGINATING

No spaces

Is that literally the entire config file? Because that’s nonsensical. It literally does nothing (that’s nothing but comments).

A default master.cf looks something like this:

#
# Postfix master process configuration file. For details on the format
# of the file, see the master(5) manual page (command: "man 5 master" or
# on-line: http://www.postfix.org/master.5.html).

# Do not forget to execute "postfix reload" after editing this file.

Please start another topic for Dovecot problems. Dovecot and Postfix are not related (except in that they both deal with mail…but Dovecot cannot be involved in a failure to send mail).

TY Joe. I think I pinpointed it to this:

Failed to open /etc/ssl/private/dovecot.pem for writing : No such file or directory

Dovecot fails to start because of it. Postfix is sending email normally, but now not receiving because of Dovecot.

Hi
Please go to /etc/postfix and check if you have git revisions there:

git diff --stat HEAD~ 5 HEAD

This should give you 5 last changes on the Postfix files. Last time I had similar situation and had to restore config files from git. They were wipe out after some update

Thank you. I actually created the folder manually and requested another cert. It worked. My issue now is that, no matter how I configure Postfix, I can’t get it to receive mail from the outside and the local mail is stuck in queue. What a mission this has been…
