I have parsed the forum multiple times. Still I cannot find an answer to the question related above
I want to build 2 new Virtualmin machines. One to contain the web server, databases, DNS, etc and the other one to be used just for mail purposes. Reasons are speed and a clean mail server IP, if the www machine gest hacked via Wordpress/etc
And the “Master/Main” Virtualmin to control the secondary/mail only Virtualmin, creating the users& etc
Is this such a thing possible after all?
Is easy for me to create a new domain on both machines and check only the required services but I thought that, maybe, there is a way to do it or control it via a single interface
It’s quite simple, and something I do myself and for my clients.
Simply setup Virtualmin on each of your systems, and enable the features you want that system to manage.
You’ll need to manage each system independently, and otherwise setup a “Virtual Server” on each of them with the appropriate services enabled.
Also, you’ll need to manage the DNS manually pointing an MX record and other records (ex. A record) to the mail server.
It’d be similar to outsourcing email to Google Workplace or Outlook, whereby you’d have to add appropriate DNS records pointing to their service to make email work properly. Only difference is you’re pointing to your own systems.
If you require assistance setting this up, and/or would like to establish a bit of automation, please reach out. My services are fair, many others have used them (search the forums) and I’m quite experienced with Virtualmin as a whole (dozens of installs each year).
This is my actual default approach, but I was lazy and I thought that I could manage the secondary mail server users from the mainserver or something like that. DNS are not anymore on the Virtulamin as I’m using Cloudflare
I’m using Virtualmin since 2006/2007 as i remember. First Jamie releases. But the laziness struck just now
I believe I will stick with the fairly simple and logic method, using two panels for administration.
