Rocky 8 Disk Quotas

SYSTEM INFORMATION
Rocky Linux 8.6
Webmin version 1.999
Virtualmin version 7.1 Pro
Related packages Disk Quotas

When this was first installed, check virtualmin configuration could not find quotas.

I moved ran vhost installs via the restore function, where the vhosts were coming in from Virtualmin, CentOS 7.

On further investigation, disk quotas were enabled on the system. I did have to click the save button in spite of it being green, which means I made no changes. But that click did get things started. I can see quotas for user and groups in the Webmin Disk Quotas module.

When I go to Virtualmin, I can see the quota for the main hosting account. When I go to email users, they all show unlimited in spite of them not being set to unlimited when viewed through Webmin Disk Quotas.

When I edit a quota on one user among several under a vhost users, after saving, quotas are shown for this user and the rest of the users under this domain. When I leave ‘Edit Users’ and come back, all the quotas are gone again and show unlimited again.

How can I fix this?

@dumorian,

It sounds like somewhere in your Virtualmin configuration you set “Unlimited” for the mailboxes. This does NOT actually give the mailbox unlimited resources across the server. Rather it gives unlimited based on the “domain quota”. So if you have a domain and set it to “10GB” your mailbox can use up to whatever is available from that 10GB. Hope this helps.

If you require further explanation, or feel my answer is not quite on point, drop me a line and we can setup a quick consult to confirm and resolve things.
