Howdy,

I hadn’t run into that before, but in poking around on Google a bit, some folks make reference to tweaking the /etc/proftpd.conf file, and making sure this is set:

AllowOverwrite On

Do you see that in there?

If that doesn’t help, you may wish to post the contents your proftpd.conf file.

Thanks,
-Eric

SOLVED: just added:

[code:1]<Global>
AllowOverwrite on
</Global>[/code:1]

AllowOverwrite is ON, however this is my /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf file.
if i log in using sftp connection via filezilla, i can upload, but i’d like to upload via normal ftp

In some cases you have to specify passive ports range to by-pass

firewall limitations. Ephemeral ports can be used for that, but

feel free to use a more narrow range.

PassivePorts 49152 65534

If your host was NATted, this option is useful in order to

allow passive tranfers to work. You have to use your public

address and opening the passive ports used on your firewall as well.

To prevent DoS attacks, set the maximum number of child processes

Uncomment this if you are using NIS or LDAP via NSS to retrieve passwords:

Both modules are loaded in default configuration, so you have to specify the backend

Hello!
Does virtualmin have support for this directive, cause i can’t seem to find it anywhere?

[code:1] AllowOverwrite on [/code:1]

Adding it to the conf file manually works fine, though!

Here is answer for “550 Overwrite permission denied”: http://dan-blog.ro/proftpd-550-overwrite-permission-denied-virtualmin-webmin.html
