The clue is in the message (it is a little obscure but translated into non “laymanspeak” essentially means You cannot be found on the internet)
Web based Validation failed
So can you? → DNSChecker or some other tool
Answer No one can find you → No published A/AAAA records
Aside → is this still namecheap? (cheap for a reason)
Also note - we have probably all made the mistake - it can take up to 48 hours for DNS changes to propagate around the world. This seems particularly true for some providers/registrars more than others. So even more important to check before attempting to add a VS.
i can use mxtoolbox to check
oh right ok so how do i fix the problem
The message might be a clue “(likely firewall problem)”
So? what did you do in between LE requests? You changed something so that LE is now looking at the IP: 90..._ not 156..._
A hint: LE does’t take well to folk battering their servers with failed requests you could end up with blacklisting/temporary ban.
i havent done anything the only thing i have done is a freash install of ubuntu server and webmin and virtualin pro
Hi there,
I just checked you IP, and for example port 80 is closed.
Are you sure you still have the 90.196.xxx.235 IP? Since you’re working with a Homeserver, it might be, that your IP has changed recently?
You might want to check it on something like myip.com…
yes its still the same it hasnt changed i just checked it on the website u just gave me
A home server ?
Did you know that the IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx can be lookep up to point to an address?
again DNSChecker (other tools are available). I just expected that to point to the location of namecheap not your home address
what do you mean im a bit confused
imgoing off for my lunch as its 12:32 here in scotland plus i need a break to
If you look at that image I posted above from DNSChecker
if you click on that it normally takes you to a Google map of the location of the IP4
This would typically be the location of the physical box (or more precisely the box’s connector to the internet) In my cases the physical location used by my client’s registrar or the box provider (Digital Ocean, Ionos, Linode, ExpressVPN).
In your case it shows your home address, along with a google’s (invasive) earth picture of your house.
That not always the case, my IP come up as brisbane, about 2 thousand klms away.
