PERL execution error & operating system problem

Hi, since the latest update of Virtualmin, I got two errors.

This one is located in configurable settings tab under Edit Virtual Server:

HTTP/1.0 500 Perl execution failed Server: MiniServ/0.01 Date: Fri, 14 Mar 2008 02:18:58 GMT Content-type: text/html Connection: close Error - Perl execution failed

Undefined subroutine &net::active_interfaces called at virtual-server-lib-funcs.pl line 2624.

This one is shown in the system information page:

Warning - Your system is actually running Debian Linux version 4.0.

While this is the server information:
Operating system Generic Linux 2.6
Webmin version 1.401
Virtualmin version 3.53.gpl (GPL)

Anybody got an idea about what’s wrong?

Thanks!

If you see a Perl error, it’s a bug. File it in the tracker, we’ll fix it, and it won’t be a bug anymore.

Something went wrong during installation of Webmin, and Webmin thought your system was one that it doesn’t know anything about. This will probably be a source of much nuisance in the future for you (because many configuration files will be setup wrong for your OS, and thus will need to be corrected, which can be very time consuming). If you’ve just installed this system and have no user data in place (e.g. no virtual servers and users), I’d suggest reinstalling Webmin so that it picks up all of the correct configuration files.

But…since you’re saying this is an update, does that mean everything has actually been working fine up to now? Webmin knows where Apache, Postfix, etc. is and is able to manage them correctly? If so, then there’s no need to fix anything…just go into Webmin’s configuration and tell it that the OS is Debian 4.0 so it’ll shut up and stop complaining. But, I’m guessing that lots of things are moderately broken on your system, and you just aren’t seeing it yet.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply.

There was an option beneath the OS version error with which we could update the config. We were affraid of using this one at first, but more errors popped up so we tried it anyway.
All the errors seem to have disappeared.

Hope that was all…

Kind regards.
