Password protected directories

Hi! I want to do basic password protection on a site. This page
http://www.virtualmin.com/documentation/tutorial/how-to-password-protect-directory
suggests it is easy to do, but it seem to be out of date or something. The option Services > Protected Directories doesn’t exist.

If I go to Services > Configure Website > Per-Directory Options > Access Control

then I get something that looks like it might do the trick, but I can’t get it to work.

Any suggestions?

Did you log as root? Because the article is right and that option is there.

yes i was logged on as root.
