WHy does this go to my gmail spam folder? what am i missing?

Howdy,

So, how did you go about installing Virtualmin? Did you use the install.sh script, available in the Downloads section above?

Also, which distribution are you using?

-Eric

Hello,
Yes I used the install.sh available.
This is how I installed it
cd /home
wget http://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/scripts/install.sh
chmod +x install.sh
./install.sh

Then I went into virtualmin and properly set my ip addresses. It was picking up 127.0.0.1 as the default instead on my ip.

When I did first start it up I didn’t have my DNS set up all the way. ns1 and ns2 weren’t active.

I am using Debian 6 x64

ok. I tried sending an email through squirlle mail instead of thrugh the PHP script thats used php mail and i got it to send. Now. here is my issues. all mail goes directly to the spam folder of the gmail account I sent it to.
Here is the email

Howdy,

You may want to verify that your hostname is correct… I see the name “localdomain” showing up in your headers, that may mean your hostname is off.

If you run the command “hostname”, what shows up?

If it’s not a name in the format “host.domain.tld”, you’d want to set it to something like that.

You can set your hostname using the command “hostname host.domain.tld”, and then restart Postfix with “/etc/init.d/postfix restart”.

Thanks for the help

Howdy,

It looks like your headers are correct now, so that’s good!

Are you still having problems with mail delivered to the spam folder?

One thing I noticed is that when doing a lookup of your IP here:

http://www.anti-abuse.org/multi-rbl-check/

It’s listed in a number of blacklists… it looks like your IP address is designated for residential customers rather than for acting as a mail server – that means you’d need to relay all your email through your provider, rather than delivering email directly.

Though, ideally, you’d want to run your server on an IP designated for commercial servers
