New domain wrong suggested DNS records

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Debian 12 Up-To-Date
Webmin version 2.610
Virtualmin version 7.50.2 GPL

I created a new domain, these are the suggested DNS records.

dirty-linux-hacks.de. A 78.46.66.154
www.dirty-linux-hacks.de. A 78.46.66.154
mail.dirty-linux-hacks.de. A 78.46.66.154
dirty-linux-hacks.de. MX 5 mail.dirty-linux-hacks.de.
dirty-linux-hacks.de. TXT v=spf1 a mx a:dirty-linux-hacks.de ip4:78.46.66.154 ?all

But under System Settings, Server Templates, Default Settings, DNS for Domains, Hostname for MX record I choose to set it to server.o-arp.de.

Why isn’t Vmin using server.o-arp.de as the mail server in DNS?

Sure I’ll use server… but by doing System Settings, Server Templates, Default Settings, DNS for Domains, Hostname for MX record I though I set it to Virtualmin to use the name I told it to use… and now it does not…

Sorry I just reread the post, so I deleted.

Can you screenshot your template.

I would think it has something to do with o-arp.de, your not the only person witht that and also its just the way DNS works, needs to go to your machines IP and not some huge network. Joe & llia will explain it fully soon. Networking is amazing, very deep stuff. Also expect a tick off for showing your domain.

I have not and will not visit it.

I think you found a bug, doing the same on mine, even dns ticked its using mail.domainname.com

Bottom bit is ok but your hostame maybe still your main issue.
Checkout mxtoolbox.com it will point out errors etc.
VM suggestions are never 100% even for me. Not that I am anything.

Weird, the template hasn’t saved. :frowning:

Let me try again.

hmm mine did…

I don’t know what I did there, saved this time.
Looks like suggested doesn’t follow the template but when I use DNS it does follow template.

hmm thats… not good… i dont use bind on my system but would like to copy the suggested DNS to cloudflare…
