I have used Virtualmin now for over a decade but never realized that postfix
was a integral part.
Previously I was only using Webmin on this server and setup and used ssmtp
to have cron
emails sent out.
Later wanted to host a website so i installed Virtualmin as well. One day I realized that that cron
emails were no longer being sent out and sent a test email to check. Found that ssmtp
had been uninstalled.
It has been a while so I am a bit fuzzy on what I did next. I believe I re-installed ssmtp
which I think conflicts with postfix
so it removed it. I am not totally sure what I did after that.
At this point ssmtp
is not installed postfix
is according to apt searc
h. Virtualmin only shows the dashboard in the control panel. I just saw that one of my SSL certificates has expired. When I clicked on the domain name to check it out I got:
Fatal Error!
Module postfix does not exist
Postfix does not show up in the list under Un-used Modules in the menu.
Any help on getting this straighten out would be appreciated. I know i messed up and I am sorry to have to ask here but I cannot seem to find any information that applies exactly to my situation. I do see advice about not doing certain things in similar situations and do not want to mess thing up more than they are.
