Migrate Virtualmin to new virtualmin server

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu 18.04
Virtualmin version REQUIRED

I want to ask, I have a plan to migrate the VirtualMin Server to a new server that uses the latest operating system (Ubuntu 24.04) because there is a need for the latest PHP version.

I have read the reference from the link: How to Migrate to a New Server | Virtualmin — Open Source Web Hosting Control Panel

but I want to make sure, does this migration process include the migration of email accounts on the previous server?

You don’t need to upgrade the OS if you only want an updated PHP version. Read this before you go full in:

It does move your e-mails as well - as long as you have included them in your backups.

I’m not sure but isn’t ubuntu 18.04 EOL ? So maybe installing a more up to date OS may be a better idea at this point

Fair point, haven’t noticed. Upgrading should be the way forward.

I tried, but since Ubuntu 18.04 is EoL, Ondrej’s repository cannot be used on that OS.

Okay, if the migration includes Email, I will continue the migration.

Thank you for your help.

Upgrading the OS is pretty much always the best way to get newer versions of any and all packages. There are options for getting newer PHP for supported OS versions (but 18.04 is no longer supported, so you can’t get maintained PHP packages for it from any of the common sources), but if upgrading the OS is an option, it’s the best one.
