Migrate from Plesk - multidomain subscription

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu 22.04.3
Webmin version 2.105
Virtualmin version 7.9.0

Hi,

I’m trying to migrate from Plesk 18.
If the Plesk subcription only contains a domain and not subdomains, it all works fine.
If the Plesk subscription contains more than one domain, all of the domains get created as subdomains of the first, without properly migrating the files in the public_html directories.

Is there a way to properly migrate a complex subscription from Plesk?

Thank you.

Plesk backup format changes regularly, and there isn’t always a direct map between how Plesk implements things and how Virtualmin does. We try. :man_shrugging:

So, the answer to your question is, “If it didn’t work when you used the migrate feature, then there probably isn’t, without code changes.”

If you want to post an example backup file that exhibits the problem somewhere we can look at it, we may be able to spot why things didn’t work and fix it.

Hi,

You can find the file here (removed for privacy):

It stores all of the “subsites” (both subdomains and domains) under the “sites” directory.

Let me know when you got the file, I’ll delete it for privacy.

Thanks for sharing it. I will add @Jamie to this discussion.

Jamie you will find the download link for the Plesk backup file by clicking on the pencil button in the urbaman’s previous post.

Thanks, I will take a look!

I’m glad I found this topic before losing all my hair on my Plesk migration… :stuck_out_tongue:
I couldn’t understand why the subdomains’ files weren’t imported and got lost in many settings.
It sure would be nice if such a backup were fully imported :v:
