MariaDB outdated

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Debian 10
Virtualmin version Latest
MariaDB 10.3

All my WordPress are showing this message. I need to update my MariaDB. I’ve read on it, and it seems I need to manually uninstall it, then install a newer version, and mysql_update the data, etc.

With many websites running on it, I’m not comfortable at doing this at the moment.

Just want to make sure, there isn’t a simple way to update MariaDB with Virtualmin ? Is this something that could come eventually, in a near furture?

FULL STOP!

Please don’t do that. Debian 11 has 10.5.21. Are you familiar with backports? Check that first. Or upgrade to Debian 11.

A little more checking. I’m surprised but there doesn’t seem to be a backport for some reason. :frowning:

My standard advice, get an AWS account. You can rent a server by the minute. Do a full install. Migrate sites. You can then attempt an OS upgrade on your current server. If it works. Celebrate. If not, reload and migrate your sites back.

Worst case, you can try the uninstall/reinstall of Mariadb and you’ll have full backups just in case.

Good luck.

PS: It seems Mariadb maintains their own repos for Debian according to this page:

You chose an OS, we respect that. Your OS provides Mariadb, not us.
