i am using virtualmin pro, how should i do a correct email server setup on virtualmin?

That is a loaded question, because out of the box Virtualmin will setup a correct email server.

thunderbird does not find the mail subdomain like mail.specialwebdesign.cf

is it because i don’t have a valid ssl certificate?

Are you hosting DNS locally or using a service like Cloudflare?

for the moment i am using freenom, but later i will buy a domain in freenom

i set successfully the glue records for my nameserver and my site now is accessible from any where the only problem that i am facing now is only the email server

check your log files for errors. Log files are you greatest assett.
