Help with ssl

I need some help with virtualminand setting up a ssl site

I use a vps service and current network settings are

eth0: 69.164.218.202
eth0: 173.255.226.62
Gateways: 173.255.226.1
69.164.218.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

I want to apply for a SSL certificate and as I understand it I need a separate IP for the site. I plan to use the first eth0: for shared hosting of other sites and the second for the SSL certificate site.

I tried the “How to add an SSL certificate” tutorial but I could not connect to the site at all not with http or https.

When I setup webmin I only had one IP and added the 2nd later. I suspect that the problem is that I dont have network ips configured properly. The vps service say that only the first ip uses dhcp and I need to use static configuration for multiple ip’s.

so do I need to setup static ip’s with virtualmin and if so how do I do it?

Well, just to clarify… you can do both

You can have one SSL certificate per IP address, and your existing shared hosting domains don’t affect that.

So, if you want a total of one SSL certificate in Apache on your server, you can do that while having just one IP address.

To add the SSL cert, log into Virtualmin, click Edit Virtual Server, go to the features section, and enable “SSL website enabled?”. After doing that, you’ll see a “Manage SSL Certificates” option available in the “Server Configuration” section.

I understand that I can have ssl certificate on the current IP what I dont understand is how to setup a second IP so I can have 2 certificates (if i need to later). I would prefer that the secure site be on its own IP.

When you go into Edit Virtual Server, click “IP address and interfaces”. You can use the “Virtual interface” option to setup a new IP address for your Virtual Server.

Thanks for the help I got it working now:)
