Hello everyone , your experience is wanted!

Hi

it is my first time with virtualmin, i would like to use on VPS 4GB ram and 2 CPU , before i follow any tutorial on youtube , do you guys had a good tutorial link helped you to have fine setup with no problems ?

i wanna use virtualmin for hosting my own emails too , you think 4GB and 2CPU is fine ?

VPS spec fine for your email hosting. Google around, plenty of information online and it also depends on the distribution you will use. Whether you go for Ubuntu or Alma/Rocky Linux is a personal preference.

@dninja,

I’m available most mornings and can help you get things setup and optimized for best performance.

Drop me a line to setup an appointment.

Do NOT do that. People put things into tutorials you shouldn’t be doing and then they wind up coming here trying to fix their installation.

It’s very, very simple.

Install your OS on your Server. You need one of the following:

  • CentOS/RHEL 7 and 8 on x86_64. 8 is recommended.
  • Debian 10 on i386 and amd64
  • Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and 20.04 LTS on i386 and amd64 (non-LTS releases are not supported). 20.04 LTS is recommended.

DO NOT ADD ANYTHING TO THEM DURING THE INSTALL. Just use all the default’s, name your server a version of a qualified domain you own. Example: You own dninja.com then name your Virtual Server vps.dninja.com or something along those lines.

Once that’s up and running, go to the terminal and run this command:
<wget https://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/scripts/install.sh>

Then run this command:
<sudo /bin/sh install.sh>

That’s it. You’re done. You’ll get the link at port 10000 to go to your control panel, run the post installer wizard that finishes configuring the system and start setting up your domains, dns, mail server, etc.
