File creation time is off

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Debian 11
Virtualmin version 7.7

Hi,

I noticed that my backup files have a creation date, 1 hour before the scheduled time. This is confusing.

It seems that creating a file is getting the wrong time.

It is now 9:50 here. When I do “touch test.txt” the creation date of the file is 8:50.

The time and timezone is however correct on the system when I check the webmin->hardware->system time->change timezone and also with command: “timedatectl”

Where else could I set some time settings that I am not aware of?

Hi,

Well, I found it. This is new for me, but it was my WinSCP program (that I use to check the backup files sometimes) that seemingly has a DST (Daylight saving time) setting that somehow was set as: Adjust remote timestamp with DST, instead of: Adjust remote timestamp to local conversions.

So the WinSCP was fooling me. The actual creation and modified date and time of the file was correct.

I leave the topic, maybe it will help another fool some day
