The auto-renewal SSL produces an error for me:

2026-10-01 13:23:33,219:INFO:certbot._internal.auth_handler:Challenge failed for domain vom-bruch.com
Certbot failed to authenticate some domains (authenticator: manual). The Certificate Authority reported these problems:
Hint: The Certificate Authority failed to verify the DNS TXT records created by the --manual-auth-hook. Ensure that this hook is functioning correctly and that it waits a sufficient duration of time for DNS propagation. Refer to "certbot --help manual" and the Certbot User Guide.
    raise errors.AuthorizationError('Some challenges have failed.')

it complained about an _acme challenge record, but I use wildcard dns entry, i dont see the wrong TXT tit complains about.

When I manually request a cert it works fine.

Are you managing dns through webmin/virtualmin or a third party ? If you are using a third party to manage you dns obtaining wild card certificates will fail, look at the name server(s) for the domain in question ans see if they reference your virtualmin/webmin server e.g the ip address matches

no everything internal, the server itself is the DNS

I think it has to do with me running DoT on BIND and this cert is also for the BIND TLS but the cron I have setup did not run before fixing BIND permissions and then BIND fails to restart which is also part of the script I think.

Will try with and without.
