for your first question, you need to set it in the server template under Mail for domain.
At the bottom of that page is the option "Format for usernames that include domain"
there you can set it to user@domain
for the second. Im not sure but Im guessing this has to do with your email client.
As for #2 … I don’t think it can be issue with both mail clients ( Outlook and Evolution ) and two different OS ( WinXP / Ubuntu-Linux )

It should be easy … add new user, setup mail.server.net as POP/SMTP and uname and passwords same as webmail … that should do.
I came accross some posts mentioning folder mixups but that was too much for newbie.
We need to see the maillog or mail.log entries from when a problem occurs (either with delivery, if you think the problem is that mail isn’t being delivered correctly, or during pickup if you think the problem is with POP/IMAP).
For me the problem is there is no problem Mail clients do not report any error. Just close down. Almost like they are checking wrong place/folder/file…
So, Dovecot is committing suicide because your clock is set horribly wrong. This explains the “sometimes doesn’t work” bit. So, fix your clock. I’m guessing your hardware clock is way off, you have ntpd running, and it’s attempting to sync reality with what your system booted with. You need accurate time on a mail server.
The other issue is that you have no mail. So, mail is not being delivered. It could be looking in the wrong place, but unless you’ve modified your dovecot.conf to break it, it’s unlikely.
So, after you fix time, send us the log from an attempt to send mail to your system.
yes you are right. It wasn’t about clock. That I “broke” later.
I changed times to be precise as both (system and hardware) were late 5 mins … so I changed it to be right. Now … what do I need to do to fix it please?
As for "non existing mail" that could be because I used to delete them and create again on two domains …
Me looking at an empty mailbox is not a useful debugging tool.
So, this shows us that mail is being delivered, or at least handed off to procmail:
to=<demouser.podrug.com@ns1.podrug.net>, orig_to=<demouser@podrug.com>, relay=local, delay=0.45, delays=0.26/0/0/0.2, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (delivered to command: /usr/bin/procmail-wrapper -o -a $DOMAIN -d $LOGNAME)
So, check the procmail.log and see if it made it past the spam/AV filter and got to a mailbox.
If so, then it does appear Dovecot is looking in the wrong place. Surprising, but not impossible. Did you not use the install.sh automated install script (which sets up mail, both delivery and retrieval, automatically, among many other things)?
What’s the default_mail_env setting in dovecot.conf set to?
eOne, I just logged into your mail server and sent an email to my hotmail account with no problems, it got there just fine. The only thing I did a little different was that I logged in with the user name demouser.podrug. Perhaps your issue relates to ronald’s post regarding templates.
Joe: It’s not empty. there are 5 e-mails inside. 4 of them Outlook test messages.
mdtiberi: thank you … I did the same. webmail shows e-mail is valid and there are e-mails inside. Webmail is working.
I cannot connect with e-mail client like Outlook or Evolution. That is my issue. So, it even recieves mails form outlook using itself ??? Why doens’t download messages then ?
