As of today sept 2024 all my vitual hosts (10) are all working
Try to backup all the virtual hosts and restore to a new servers with Alma Linux
My new servers installed with all identical servers
But after the restore all virtual host point to only one hosts
I re check the virtualmin config error
( https syn errors…. Letenscripts ….)
My requested is just restore it to new server. After restore all the virtual hosts, all virtual hosts point to only one virtual host
I can used 2 years ago backup to restore on the new server but I lost all the current data
Please help
That’s incorrect. Virtualmin updates would not cause Apache to stop.
So, given that fact, we need to determine why it actually stopped so you can solve the problem.
Check status:
systemctl status httpd
Open another terminal and tail the log:
journalctl -fu httpd
Try restarting service:
systemctl restart httpd
Check the log for what happened, if it fails to start.
If no clues are found in the journal, check /var/log/error_log.
This is different than Apache stopping. I think what you are saying the default server is being used for all requests?
Would apachectl configtest be a usefull command?

I been using virtualmin since 2017, love it so much. Been setup 4 servers since 2017.
Only host my owned small company web pages
What happened was around April 20 2022, virtual min suggest disable cgi-php stuff. I did disable it, then after the new Virtualmin, server stop
The error was Apache unable to start
Everyone said to removed few things from httpd, don’t know, but somehow I disable DNS
The Apache able to start
So I leaving alone, all VH works, able to updated as of June 30 ( centos end)
Now I created and installed the Alma Linux with all the php 7.4 8.2 and Mariadb 10.6
Backup ok
But the backup files all had https errors with related to encrypts matter
I’m able using two years backup, Ok and works but those 2 years ago data all out dated
Another problems even 2 years backup files can caused the httpd corrupts
Our of 10 virtual hosts I’m able to restore 7 and functions
My idea is can we make few adjustments on the old centos server
By the ways I created 3 Alma servers but none as good as old centos
But the Virtuslmin is the best if all back up and able to restore in great shape
I did restore 3 servers with Alma, it just works
I’m using multiple PHPs Virtualmin able to handle it

Total I had 10 vhosts per server in my office
If I cannot fixed I just used my 2022 backup data and restore to my new Alma 8.1 server
The I just updated my Wordpress sites
Maybe I still using the old centos sever the old centos server all virtual hosts still works
I still can updated all the Wordpress web pages

The old centos is working all v hosts are ok
But when I backup and trying restore to a new server
The web site only point to only web site
My old centos servers httpd is active and working but if do the backup and restored to new servers
All the VH messed up keep point to only one v hosts
Ive done the same and had no issues with the virtualmins backup and restore.
I noticed the old server is a little out of date, nothing I would of that what you make restore not work. Without you posting logs its impossible to know whats going on. Logs are king when you administrating server, else your just working blind.
That sounds like a variant of “The wrong site shows up”.
One that I’ve seen happen more often lately is misconfigured IPv6 in Apache.
How to get the log, I know it’s on that server, never done that before
When I using that backup and did the restore
Then the error

I did using DNS, I disable the DND from the system
If I turn on another error and Apache stop

I felt like the Apache config files maybe missing or corrupt
Due to back to 2022 cgi php, maybe I did deleted few lines
But when I disable the DNS
The Apache server restart and been working since 2022
Maybe if I do backup the backup still collect error from Apache
If I using restore from that backup
Then all restored VHosts not point to their pages
Plus the httpd files say something related with letenscripts files
Why do you feel like that? Have you looked at the config file?
The Apache configuration, at least the parts you care about, would be in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf, and you’re looking for VirtualHost sections.
If you read the troubleshooting guide I linked you to, it tells you what to look for (mixing * with IP-based virtual hosts can cause the behavior you describe, as can misconfigured IPv6). You’re going to have to look at the configuration. You should not be trying to guess what’s wrong. The problem has a cause, and it’s usually one of a handful of simple configuration issues. This is a very common problem, because of the way Apache matches VirtualHost sections with incoming requests (which is very unintuitive, but it is unintuitive in such a way that it’s easy to avoid if you’re aware of it).

Just back home from all the problem with that server
Let me config my new servers I had to manual adding all the php 7.4 7.3 8,2 plus all the extension otherwise those Wordpress won’t start
Plus adding three Maria DB 10.6
The I restore few of the able v host on the new server
Then I let you helping me to see what caused they eerier
But Joe I love the virtualmin that save me a lot of money and easy ( can you imager how much I save 40 plus Wordpress sits
You did a wonderful job for our small business owner!
