Domain DNS records

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu 20.04
Virtualmin version 6.17

Hello, I have installed Virtualmin and bought a domain and now want to create a virtual server but for that there should be DNS records set at then domain. Does anyone know which ones and with which values or where can I find this?

See Primary nameserver is not valid - #4 by calport

But I’m not talking about the name server, am I? I’m talking about the DNS records that I need to set up with the registrar where I bought the domain so that the traffic from that domain ends up on the server that Virtualmin is on.

You need to read the documentation from your registrar on how to setup nameservers/host names with IP. Then you need to follow up with the DNS setup as per Virtualmin and above post.

But I’m not talking about the name servers, am I? I have a second domain e.g. for a customer and I want to host it on my virtualmin account. I have to set the DNS records of that domain name at the registrar’s so it will come on my virtualmin account to make a virtual server because when I do that I get an error that the DNS records are not correct for the SSL certificate and for setting the DNS correctly. Someone else says this: A, AAAA, SPF, DKIM, MX DMARC for mails. But don’t know with what value etc.

Ah, you read the name of the topic and based on that assumed that the discussion was about nameservers and not DNS records.

If you had actually followed the link that I had posted, you would have found that it answers the question that you had asked.

Anyway, we all reach the truth through different paths. Good luck to you.

And what with this:
Someone else says this: A, AAAA, SPF, DKIM, MX DMARC for mails. But don’t know with what value etc.

If your master domain has been setup correctly with nameservers and what not, a 2nd domain will add the nameservers automatically and you click on the domain details to enable SPF, DMARC etc. additional dns records can also be added under the domain dns.

ok, followed you link but still get this when I create a virtual server in Virtualmin:

Web-based validation failed :

I finally succeeded now but for adding a 2nd domain should I also redirect the domain.com and www.domain.com records to the server and also link the nameservers of that server?

Before I answer your question, could you outline the steps that you took to make DNS records work for the first domain, so that we are both on the same page?

Yes, I did that.

Please list the changes that you made to the first domain and Virtualmin.
