Compression from the file manager is blocked (looping)

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Debian Linux 11
Virtualmin version 7.8.2

Hello, I’m having an issue with my Virtualmin. When I try to zip a file using the Virtualmin file manager, it displays “compression in progress” at the bottom right, but it keeps looping. Even with a 1KB file, it keeps looping and doesn’t complete the ZIP compression. Do you have any ideas to assist me?

Thank you very much for your help.
Florian

Hmm. I’m on Debian 11. The only way to compress I saw was ‘create archive’? I tried it and it worked for me. You have the correct permissions? I’m in with full rights. Next would maybe be a command line test to make sure the underlying program is working OK.

Note it creates a tar.gz type file.

That hints at memory. The OOM killer can cause processes to be killed, and if processes go away abruptly Webmin might think they’re still working. Just a guess, but I can’t think of other good explanations.
