ClamAV on Ferora Core 6

Hi Guys,

Does someone know what version of ClamAV is the "latest" from Virtualmin?

Our box is running Fedora Core 6 and Virtualmin Pro, latest versions.
ClamAV version is 0.88.7 on our box.
Virtualmin also tells me that we use the latest version:
"clamav - End-user tools for the Clam Antivirus scanner - Running latest version 0.88.7-4.fc6"

Whould be nice hear from other people who also use FC6 and Virtualmin Pro, what version of ClamAV you are using? and if you manually have updated ClamAV or if it has been updated automatically by "yum update".

Regards,

Hi Leif,

I have a similar setup…
2.6.22.9-61.fc6
Webmin version 1.380
VM version 3.50

clamscan -V says… ClamAV 0.88.7/5501/

freshclam throws an error pretty often, and running freshclam as root produces this error:

The Webmin ClamAv module tells me that:
"WARNING: Your version of ClamAV is not compatible with this module. Please check that you have installed a recent enough version of ClamAV."

yum wont update clam.
And I havent updated it manually

But I would very much like to see it updated. Can anybody please help explain best way to update.

thanks

l.

Hi LonDoh,

I think Joe is working on a updated package and I will wait for that version, because it looks like there are a lot of “work” doing it manually. I prefer to have a working “old” version than a new one that I don’t know if I can get running Ok.

Joe have not said anything about the ETA for the package but I’m sure he let us now as soon the new version is available.

Regards,
Leif

Hi Leif

Thanks for reply.

yes I agree it will be better to wait for dedicated package.

Joe, if you happen to read this: Can you give any idea of an ETA?

thanks

l.

btw the cron error from /usr/share/clamav/freshclam-sleep is as follows:

ERROR: Clamd was NOT notified: Can’t connect to clamd through
/tmp/clamd
connect(): No such file or directory

Patience is my middle name but after so many months I am still staring at numerous freshclam errors every every every day. Please Joe please - what to do?..
