Adding 176.123.123.123 ..
Server 176.123.123.123 has an IP address instead of a hostname
I did a while ago with another server without problem and I don’t recall doing something different on previous slave server. The machine has a host name. In Webmin server index both looks the same, are connected. Both “slaves” are registered with tld administrator as ns2 and ns3 per IP. Not sure what to understand from the error.
Fixed. The problem was that the DNS wasn’t propagated so Virtualmin couldn’t match the IP with a hostname. Why the DNS wasn’t propagated, might be an interesting issue. The DNS for the name servers domain was created long time ago. Now I have added records for third name server ns3 in the DNS records. But they were added at the end of the file. I have manually edited them, put them in order NS records at NS records etc. After that change, in an hour or so, the IP was resolved to the hostname. Not sure if this was the solution or just a coincidence and the propagation just took longer than usual (more than 24 hours, close to 36-40).
