Backup - Restore problem

Old system - backup performed:
Operating system: Ubuntu Linux 16.04.7
Webmin version: 1.984

New system - restore attempted:
Operating system: Ubuntu Linux 20.04.4
Webmin version: 1.984
Virtualmin version: 6.17.gpl-3
Related packages: Virtualmin → Backup and Restore

I am trying to backup a few domains from an old system and restore it on a new system. I am not backing up everything and all features, example I don’t need to restore any DNS entries on the new system. Example:

I want to backup specific features only - Exclude DNS settings for domains:

Restore fails because it’s trying to restore DNS entries. The new system DNS server already has proper entries for all domains that I need to restore. So I get an error The DNS domain domian.com is already hosted by your DNS server.

How to create a backup of specific domain and to restore it without any DNS features?

When restoring, try to untick apache entries; apache web server config and apache web server config and certificate.

I’m away from my desk so for the moment I’m going to make a segway observation that requires attention.

You should upgrade your distro to 18.04 or recommended 20.04 ASAP as 16.04 has been EOL (end of life) since April 2021.

Old server is 16.04 and new one is 20.04. So I am creating backup on old to move it to new one.

I tried untick all option except
Server Home Directory
Content of server’s MySQL database

Still is looking into DNS to write entries there. Same goes if I already have a user, it will not restore because user already exist on new system.

Yes, it’s because a domain on new server is using/got the same userid that is being imported when domain was created. You have to make sure userid’s don’t clash or change prior to importing. Was about to ask to untick more but for homes and users, but you said you had already unticked all.

For the DNS issue, not sure if you have made any changes in the past and needs a BIND/apache reboot. The above should have worked assuming there is no clash with the domain.
