Admin.domain / webmail.domain

I actually did notice the same last time I set up a new server, this happened on both Ubuntu and Debian at least.
The work-around is in the terminal to;

virtualmin modify-web --no-webmail --domain yourdomain.tld && virtualmin modify-web --webmail --domain yourdomain.tld

The weird part is that the Apache config for said domain looks very similar before and after the change, but I didn’t have time to go through the details enough so I could file a bug-report with the Virtualmin staff yet.

So lets check again because you mention both “Futurenode” and “Futurehost”. Me When I go on skytower.futurehost.dk I get this joycefull list (no harms, I’m really having fun):

The certificate is only valid for the following names: admin.futurehost.dk, admin.futurenode.dk, admin.futurenode.net, admin.futurenode.org, admin.halfdaner.dk, autoconfig.futurenode.dk, autodiscover.futurenode.dk, futurehost.dk, futurenode.dk, futurenode.net, futurenode.org, halfdaner.dk, mail.futurenode.dk, webmail.futurehost.dk, webmail.futurenode.dk, webmail.futurenode.net, webmail.futurenode.org, webmail.halfdaner.dk, www.futurehost.dk, www.futurenode.dk, www.futurenode.net, www.futurenode.org, www.halfdaner.dk

So first 5 Domain for 1 platform can only lays to problems, especially if you are a beginner.

Then if you ask the redirection (:10000) to be done for skytower.futurehost.dk I think it’s normal that admin.futurehost.dk only redirect to futurehost.dk (and not :10000).

Still then you also mention http://admin.futurenode.org (.org and not .dk). This time it start to be kinda complex because there are probably so much redirection rules … I can hardly said.

But I would like to precise: Have several domain name for the same platform is not good for referencing and might even hidde your platforms from search result (Or at least decrease its rank).

But if you need it, you litteraly need a ssl certificate for every single domain and subdomains AND redirect rules setup for each (Let say it depend your setup but I guess today it have to be a mess :smile:).

The best would be to recreate the first alias (if futurenode.dk was the main domain I suppose the first alias is futurehost.dk) and only then, when everything work (Redirection AND ssl), you add a second alias (which might be futurenode.org).

But again Usually 1 Domain is enough and you will get a better referencing on Search Engine.

Hi,

Noob incoming!

Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it.

But I’m sorry I give up! - I’m new to Linux and Virtualmin and don’t understand how to fix this problem.

I will hire someone to fix it for me next month.

When they fix it, can you post what they do? :smiley:

Sure :slight_smile: - But it will first be in the next month

just incase it was not mentioned, the following URLs are not managed by apache but by the miniserver webserver (custom code for virtualmin) and as such will not suffer redirects defined in apache. This is why they work.

You can directly hire me if you want. I’m sure I will fix it.
