I love Mastodon, but it’s quite complicated to install.

I think it’s a job for running in a container, as they provide an official container image, and Jamie has almost wrapped up support for running apps in containers easily in Virtualmin (it’s already possible just by proxying to the container, but Jamie’s been working on some more automation to make it a little easier and more GUI-based).

I’m not sure exactly how long it’ll be, though, as we’re still testing the container and app server support.

Yeah, Mastadon seems more suited to running in a container than the typical scripts that we install, which are webapps associated with a domain. So I don’t think it makes as much sense to add an installer for it…
